Bridgeport Hatchet / Axe - Vintage - Boy Scouts of America - With Emblem - Nice!

Description

Up for auction is a vintage Bridgeport hatchet that has the Boy Scouts of America emblem stamped on the axe head that was a very nice estate find.
-It is in very good overall condition overall and appears to have been taken pretty good care of in the past.
-The overall measurement is about 13-1/2" long at its longest point and the hatchet head is almost 5" across from back of the head to the sharpened edge.
-It has a decent cutting edge on it and no gouges on the edge.
-The handle itself is steel and runs down through the center of the hatchet. It has wooden grips on the lower end over the steel handle.
-Somewhere along the line someone put the tape over the wooden handle portion.  I did not want to pull the tape off as I feel it gives the hatchet some character but it appears that there might be at least a light crack in the wood handle toward the top.
-The previous owner also appears to have put a light coat of poly or lacquer over the steel to help protect it. It doesn't look like this has seen any actual chopping action for quite some time and may have even been a collection.
-Back of the steel handle has "Made in USA" and "US Patent 1830663 (at least that what the number appears to be) stamped in it.
